RSS Feeds are usually found on web sites that are associated with news such as the BBC. A feed is normally a simple xml text file that contains multiple news titles along with a short news snippets. Our system is able to download these feeds automatically and associate them with page templates to create individual information pages that contain each news item. It will then display these pages one after the other (you can set how long each page is displayed for) in one of the noticeboard screen display areas (zones). The system also allows you to create your own feeds with our feed authoring system. This is a very simple way of getting short messages onto a digital signage screen without having to put the messages into a page first so can be a big time saver.
Making the Text Fit In addition, the digital signage player software has a way of dynamically adjusting the text font size before it displays it to ensure it always fits into the given space allocated to it.
Note: Before showing RSS feeds from sources other than your own you should check the terms and conditions of the feed provider as they may have restrictions on commercial or public use. |
Digital Signage Screen Showing RSS Feeds along with other messages and a scrolling ticker
The above image shows a display screen showing a BBC RSS feed along with a locally created RSS feed (top right) and a conventional message pages. The system automatically creates the required number of pages to show each feed item in an individual page.
Feeds are then easily allocated to a display group with the main controller software as shown above.

RSS Feeds when processed are slotted into page templates, one of which is shown below. Templates are easily created in the editor section of the control system and use simple tags as place holders for the processed data. This template is the one used for slotting the data into the page shown in the very top image, and the top right zone that says Joe Blogs Manufacturing.
